SAVI School

Self-paced GCSE learning

Last reviewed:

SAVI School provides self-paced GCSE learning for families and home educators, combining mapped lessons, revision and exam-style practice where subject and exam-board coverage is available. Learners can check current coverage before starting. SAVI is not an exam board or exam centre and does not enter learners for public examinations.

What is self-paced GCSE learning?

Self-paced GCSE learning means a learner works through a lesson when they are ready, rather than waiting for a timetabled class. On SAVI that lesson exists only where the subject, qualification and awarding body are mapped. The pace is the learner's. The specification still belongs to the awarding organisation.

Full lesson, or a revision-only platform?

BBC Bitesize and Seneca are widely used for revision notes and practice. A revision-only platform assumes the course was taught somewhere else. SAVI is for families who want the mapped lesson as well as revision and exam-style practice. It is not a claim that SAVI replaces those revision sites, and it is not a claim that every GCSE subject is available.

How SAVI lessons work

A mapped lesson is a canonical lesson tied to a specification objective. The same lesson can serve more than one awarding body when the objective is shared, instead of copying a second page. Learners then use the revision and practice that belong to that lesson. If the catalogue has no mapped lesson, there is nothing to start.

Which subjects are available?

The subject list is the live GCSE subject and exam-board coverage table. Each row links to the subject page. This page does not repeat a frozen list, because unpublished skeletons and empty board labels are not availability.

Which exam boards are mapped?

Awarding organisations that appear in the catalogue include AQA, Pearson Edexcel, OCR and WJEC/Eduqas, and only for combinations that have a mapped lesson. Ofqual regulates GCSEs in England. The awarding organisations publish the specifications. A mapping on SAVI is not endorsement by Ofqual or by the board.

How pupils check current coverage

Open the coverage table, then the subject link in the row you need. The counts on that page are calculated when the page is requested. An advertisement, a search snippet, or an older copy of this page is not the check.

How assessment and exam-style practice work

Practice on SAVI is part of the lesson. It is not the public GCSE paper, and a result inside SAVI is not a grade from the awarding organisation. Family accounts can show learning progress for a pupil. That record is evidence of activity on SAVI, not an examination result.

Home education

Home-educated learners can use the mapped lessons. SAVI does not register as the learner's school and does not take over the parent's responsibility for education. Schools buying supplementary lessons should use online GCSE learning for schools.

What SAVI does not provide

SAVI is not an exam board, an exam centre, or a replacement school. It does not award GCSEs. AI Build Group Ltd is listed on the UK Register of Learning Providers, UKPRN 10101917. That UKPRN listing is not Department for Education accreditation or endorsement. SAVI does not publish pass rates, learner counts, or examination results on this page.

How learners arrange the actual GCSE examination

The learner, family or school arranges the entry with an exam centre that accepts private or school candidates. JCQ and the awarding organisations set the entry rules for each series. SAVI does not submit the entry and does not host the exam. Start from Ofqual and the relevant awarding organisation for the specification you are studying.

Evidence and sources

Self-paced GCSE learning on SAVI School is for families and home educators. Compared with a revision-only site, the mapped lesson is part of the path where coverage exists. SAVI is not an exam centre. The family or learner arranges the public exam.

  • What you can do here. Work through a mapped lesson, then revision and exam-style practice, when that subject and awarding body are in the live coverage table.
  • What you cannot do here. Sit the public GCSE, receive an awarding-body grade, or treat SAVI as the learner's school.
  • How to check availability. Use the coverage page for this request. A drafted lesson or a board name without a canonical lesson is not available.

Is SAVI School only a GCSE revision platform?

No. Where a subject and awarding body are mapped, SAVI School includes the lesson as well as revision and exam-style practice. A revision-only site is for practice after the course has been taught elsewhere. Current availability is the coverage table, not this sentence.

Which GCSE exam boards does SAVI support?

SAVI maps lessons to awarding organisations such as AQA, Pearson Edexcel, OCR and WJEC/Eduqas only where a specification objective has a canonical lesson. Mapping is not affiliation, endorsement or approval by that awarding organisation. Check the live coverage table before starting.

Does SAVI enter learners for GCSE exams?

No. SAVI is not an exam board and not an exam centre. It does not enter a learner for a public GCSE, mark that exam, or award the grade. The learner, family or school arranges the examination with a centre that accepts their entry.

Can home-educated learners use SAVI?

Yes. Families and home educators can use the mapped lessons for self-paced study. SAVI does not become the learner's school, and it does not replace the arrangements needed to sit a public exam.
