1. Policy and contact details

This policy applies to SAVI Education services, staff, contractors, volunteers and anyone acting on our behalf. AI Build Group Ltd, company number 17151645, trading as Savi Education, is the controller of personal information used for SAVI Education. Its registered office is Unit 19 Castle Road, Sittingbourne ME10 3RG.

Our Designated Safeguarding Lead is Tim Savigar. Safeguarding concerns should be sent to tim.savigar@ai-build.ltd. General policy questions can be sent to kate.edu@ai-build.ltd.

2. If someone is in immediate danger

If a child or young person is in immediate danger, call 999. Do not wait for a response from SAVI Education. Concerns about a child can also be reported to the relevant local authority children's services team or the police. Childline is available on 0800 1111.

3. Our safeguarding principles

  • the welfare and best interests of the child are paramount;
  • every child has an equal right to protection, including from online harm;
  • children should be listened to and taken seriously;
  • concerns are shared only with people who need to act on them;
  • staff must recognise, record, report and respond to concerns promptly; and
  • we work with parents, carers and statutory agencies where it is safe and appropriate to do so.

4. Recognising concerns

A concern may relate to physical, emotional or sexual abuse, neglect, exploitation, bullying, self-harm, radicalisation, discrimination, unsafe home circumstances, inappropriate adult behaviour, or harmful online contact or content. Changes in a learner's words, behaviour or engagement may also indicate that help is needed.

Staff do not investigate or promise confidentiality. They listen calmly, avoid leading questions, record the facts and the learner's own words, and report the concern to the DSL without delay.

5. Reporting and responding

  1. Record what was seen, heard or disclosed, including the date and relevant context.
  2. Report it promptly to Tim Savigar at tim.savigar@ai-build.ltd.
  3. The DSL assesses risk and decides whether to contact carers, children's services, police or another agency.
  4. Records and decisions are stored securely, separately from ordinary learning information.

Where an allegation concerns the DSL, or a person working for SAVI Education, it should be sent to kate.edu@ai-build.ltd and referred to the relevant Local Authority Designated Officer where required. Anyone may report directly to statutory services if internal reporting is unsafe or inappropriate.

6. Online learning and communication

We design access controls and moderation processes to reduce avoidable contact and content risks. Users must communicate respectfully, protect private information and report worrying messages or behaviour. Adults working with learners must use approved accounts and channels and maintain professional boundaries.

Parents and carers should support safe device use, discuss online experiences and tell us promptly about concerns connected with the service.

7. Artificial intelligence

AI-generated material can be inaccurate, biased or unsuitable. It must not replace professional safeguarding judgement or make final decisions about a child. Staff review relevant outputs, minimise personal information and escalate concerning content or disclosures to the DSL. Further detail is in our AI policy.

8. People, records and review

People working on our behalf receive safeguarding information appropriate to their role. Relevant roles are subject to safer recruitment checks and training. Access to safeguarding records is restricted and records are retained in line with [RETENTION PERIODS], legal requirements and the child's welfare.

We review this policy regularly and after a serious incident, material service change or relevant legal update. This policy supports SAVI School and should be read with the pupil AI explainer.
